"When I'm at home, I would                   rather be traveling; when I'm traveling, I'd rather be at home.  Sometimes when I'm feeling lonely, what I want  most is to be social and have a billion friends... and then if I find
myself at a party wanting
to go home and be by
myself. There is a reason for that.

   Learned helplessness
is a psychological condition in which a human being or an animal has learned to act or behave helpless in a particular situation, even when it has the power to change its unpleasant or even harmful circumstance. Learned helplessness theory is  the view that clinical depression and mental illness result from a perceived absence of control over the outcome of a situation
(Seligman, 1975).

"THE PAST IS FINISHED
Learn from it and let it go.  The future is not even here yet. Plan for it but do not waste your time worrying about it.  Worrying is worthless. When you stop ruminating about what has already happened, when you stop worrying about what might never happen, then you will be in the present moment."---unknown

EXISTENTIAL ANGST
Anxiety is being 'afraid' when there is nothing to fear.
We struggle with something in the dark, but we don't know what it is.
From somewhere and yet nowhere seeps out a vague feeling of threat.
Floating around in our body, unsettling our stomach, a generalized sense of menace possesses our whole being.  This uneasiness has no identifiable cause.  Our anxiety is seldom an object of consciousness that we can focus on;  rather, it seems to be a deep, inner state of our being,  which makes itself felt without the aid of conceptual thought
—indeed against our fervent wish to be free of anxiety.  In angst we confront the fundamental precariousness of existence;  our being is disclosed as unspeakably fragile and tenuous.  And when it bursts thru the protective shell in which we try to encapsulate it,  our anxious dread renders us helpless.
To see one's
difficulty clearly
is the first step
in going beyond it.
Be yourself!
Everyone else has been taken.
"For some, living from day to day seems
easier than for others.  Nature vs. nurture notwithstanding, I  believe most of us
have largely been  conditioned to
react the way we do to life's joys and
challenges.  That implies we can choose
to recondition ourselves."  Lou

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ABOUT "SENSITIVITY"?

As we age,  the mathematical probability that the number of past  negative decisions we have made in life increases.  Many  are still grieving losses resulting from those decisions, years later.  Hopefully, with that extra time we have learned the wisdom necessary to cope appropriately.

Research indicates that 15 to 20% of humans and many other animal species are born more sensitive to hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, observing etc. than the majority.  It is theorized that over long periods of time evolution has selected this percentage as adequate to protect the herd, community, tribe, pact etc.   By nature, this extra sensitive minority are usually the leaders.

"Highly sensitive" students in the far eastern culture are generally considered the most admired and well liked.  Our western "John Wayne / Clint Eastwood" culture, however, generally perceives "high sensitivity" as a weakness.

If you are a "highly sensitive person"  you will by  our western perception be considered "abnormal"---Lou

Power over others is weakness disguised as strength.
If you want to go fast, go alone.  If you want to go far, go together---African proverb

it is nobler and finer to be conquered by
life than to fall by ones own hand..."

Prisoner of Earth
"A person can spend one's whole life between four walls. If one doesnt think or feel that he or she is in a prison, then he is not a prisoner. But, there are people for whom the whole planet is a prison, who see the infinite expanse of the universe, the millions of stars and galaxies that remain

awareness makes
them the greatest

LATENT ANXIETY
is when from somewhere and yet nowhere seeps out a vague feeling of threat floating around in our body, unsettling our stomach, a generalized sense of menace possesses our whole being.
Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and often times we call a man cold when he is only sad.

Given the choice between the experience of pain and nothing, I would choose pain.

“I have absolutely no pleasure in the stimulants in which I sometimes so madly indulge.  It has not been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason.  It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom.”

Predjudice sucks if you'll

A painful feeling isn't being lonely, it's being
forgotten by
someone you'd

Without fear there can be no courage, only recklessness..
Saying someone can't be sad because someone else may have it worse is like saying someone can't be happy because someone else may have it better.
